However, once you become more experienced, traditional languages can provide a more powerful way to program games. Consequently, Game Maker also provides the Game Maker Language (GML), which underpins Game Maker and makes it such a powerful tool. The last part of the book uses several simple examples to introduce you to GML, before demonstrating how you can use it to create artificial intelligence for undead creatures in the Pyramid Panic game.

The example games in this book have been brought to life with graphics and illustrations by real games industry artists. Furthermore, you can use all the professional resources provided on the CD in your own Game Maker projects with the blessing of the publisher and authors.
We only ask that you share your creations with the online Game Maker community so that we can see what you have created with them. We just want you to enjoy the creative journey and hope that it will help you to share in our passion and enthusiasm for creating computer games!

Good luck,

Jacob and Mark
